So what is the Smalltown Boy dance with the scream?

Updated:

Short answer

It is a two-character comedy dance trend, often made as an AI cat video. One clutches their head with both hands and screams into a close wide-angle lens while the other dances behind; a hard cut swaps them, and both dance side by side at the end. Tip Toe AI makes one from two photos.

Where it began

The trend came in two steps. A real-people duet from August 2026 set the beats. In early October 2026 an AI version with two cats appeared on Instagram, and that is the one people copied. We do not name the accounts.

The beats every version shares

  • One dancer fills the lower right of the frame, up against the lens, hands on head, screaming while the other dances behind.
  • A hard cut swaps the two, so the other one screams.
  • Both step back into a wide shot, side by side, and dance.
  • A wide-angle phone look, with a red backdrop behind them.
  • The clip ends on the side-by-side dance.

Real dance or AI?

It exists in both forms. Some people film real duets with a friend, and others use AI video tools to put cats, dogs or characters through the same beats. The AI cat clips are not footage of real cats dancing.

Our version is AI-made as well: it generates new video from your two photos and uses no original footage.
