Does the Hit the Road Dude AI video use the original audio?
Updated:
Short answer
It does not. The original recording is left out, and new AI voices speak the lines, timed to the original clip, over quiet ambient sound and an idling engine, with no music. Download it, then add the original sound inside TikTok or Instagram when you post, and the lines should fit.

What you hear
The Driver asks “Who told you you could fish here?” (or “play” or “park”, depending on the place you pick), an off-camera young man answers “I thought it was state property”, and the Driver repeats “State?”, then “This?”, then “State?” again. After that comes “Hit the road, dude. This ain’t no state property, this is private property.”, a quick “Oh, okay” from the young man, and a last “What is your name anyway? I want your name.” The lips are asked to move in time with each line, and each line starts at about the same second as in the original clip.
Everything is generated with the video, so voices and timing differ between runs. There is no song in this meme, only speech, with the quiet ambient sound of the place and a softly idling engine underneath.
Adding your own sound in four steps
- Grab the version without sound from My videos.
- Start a new post in TikTok, Reels or Shorts and pick the video.
- Choose a sound from the app’s own sound library, or record your own voice.
- Set the volume and post.
A note on licensing
The audio of the original clip is somebody else’s recording. Platforms license their sound libraries for use inside their own apps, so choosing a sound there is the intended route. We cannot give legal advice, and you stay responsible for what you post.
How to put the original sound on your video in TikTok
Every video you make here comes with an AI-made soundtrack of its own. If you would rather use the trending sound, add it inside TikTok when you post. You can also grab the version without music from My videos and lay the original sound over that.
- Open the original post of this trend in TikTok, tap the sound name at the bottom of the screen, then tap Use this sound.
- Tap Upload and choose the video you downloaded from us.
- Open Volume and turn the video's own sound down to 0, or use the Download without music version from My videos.
- To line the clip up with the beat, trim the sound so it starts at 0 seconds, then post.
